Verona, 1595. The parents of 14-year-old Juliet Capulet think she is now old enough to be married off. But Juliet is hopelessly in love with Romeo Montague. And he with her. The two want nothing more than to get married. But planning a wedding is unfortunately out of the question, as the Capulets and Montague are mortal enemies.
The love-struck couple marries in secret, but unfortunately Juliet's father finds out anyway. Romeo flees the city and waits anxiously for his beloved. Juliet is stopped by her father, but eventually she manages to secretly leave the parental home. Just before her departure one of the maids whispers something in her ear about a secret exit. Will Juliet succeed in reuniting with her other half, Romeo?
