It is 1867. Thomas D'Arcy McGee walks contentedly through the streets of Ottawa. For years, the native Irishman had worked for greater freedom and prosperity for Irish Catholics. And with success, as this created the Confederation of Canada. In fact, D'Arcy McGee is now so popular that he has just been elected as a member of Canada's First Parliament. Life is smiling on him, but unfortunately not everyone thinks so.
The Fenian Brotherhood, a group of Irish Protestants, initially saw an ally in Thomas. But after he openly distanced himself from the "Fenians," they became archenemies. D'Arcy McGee has received death threats on several occasions, and even now he notices he is being followed. Cautiously he looks over his shoulder. Yes, it's a hit again! Will Thomas manage to stay out of the Fenians' hands?
