Uruguay was once part of the Spanish Empire. At the beginning of the 19th century, José Gervasio Artigas, Uruguay's freedom fighter, rose up with his army. He defeats the Spanish troops and founds several independent provinces.
Brazil, which had become independent from Portugal not long before, does not accept it. Uruguay belongs to them, they say. That is why they open the hunt for Artigas.
