French poet Paul Marie Verlaine has been struggling with his orientation for years. As a result, he now has two great loves: 17-year-old poet Arthur and booze. Unfortunately, the latter is becoming increasingly important in his life, and during a romantic weekend away, things get completely out of hand. Stupidly drunk, Paul accidentally shoots his lover in his wrist.....
Paul panics and flees. Along with a bottle of speech water, he boards a train to his hometown of Metz. Once he arrives at the station, it is swarming with cops. They are looking for him! The tipsy poet wants to avoid being caught at all costs. Because that means a divorce from Arthur, but also from drink.... Paul has heard Arthur talk about a secret exit, but where is it again?
