Groningen has many special stories, the disappearance of Bommen Berend being one of them. In 1672, the criminal Bishop was searched for but managed to escape from the city just in time, via a secret exit. Since then, nobody has found out how he managed to escape.
The widely known hospitality magnate Sjoerd Kooistra was obsessed with the story and spent his life searching for that secret exit, he came close but in the end he never succeeded.
