About Escape Tour florence
In the 15th century, the influential De’ Medici family was in power in Florence. In addition to trade and hard work, the family was passionate about art and supported many artists. Lorenzo I de’ Medici, the grandson, even went so far as to allow the sculptor and painter Michelangelo Buonarroti to live and work in his home.
On April 8, 1492, Lorenzo breathed his last, in the presence of the Dominican friar and Lorenzo’s protégé, Girolamo Savonarola. And with that, the glorification of the artists came to an end. For Savonarola launched a veritable witch hunt against everything related to art. Even his roommate Michelangelo was no longer sure whether he would survive … The artist recalled that Lorenzo had once mentioned a secret passage. But where was it again?
