In the 15th century, the influential De' Medici family is in power in Florence. In addition to trading and hard work, the family is great lovers of art and sponsor many artists. Grandson Lorenzo I de' Medici goes so far as to allow sculptor and painter Michelangelo Buonarotti to live and work in his home.
