In the year 1669, the beautiful island of Texel was an important departure and arrival port for the Dutch East India Company (VOC). When the weather didn\'t allow sailing, the sailors would camp on the island, often accompanied by plenty of festivities. Michiel de Ruyter was also fond of a party, especially at the inn where Neeltje Bakker worked.
