John Darrell makes his living as an exorcist. From far and wide, people come with requests to exorcise the devil from their loved ones. In 1597, the mayor of Nottingham asks him to deliver a young boy from evil. It is a success and John is appointed a preacher in Nottingham. Only he is not so successful as a preacher. And then it turns out that the exorcism has been staged....
Samuel Harsnett investigates John's practices and is determined: this crook must be executed! The preacher is shocked that he is wanted. His life mission is in danger; the devil must not win this!
