Camille Pernon was a famous silk weaver and merchant in Lyon around 1800. The wealthy inhabitants of the city were big fans of his and purchased beautiful silks and brocades en masse. The good stories about Camille's merchandise also reached Napoleon. So when the emperor came to Lyon in 1806, a visit to Camille's studio could not be missed.
Napoleon placed a mega order of silk fabrics for his imperial palaces. "The colors will stay bright and fresh for hundreds of years," Camille had said. So the emperor was furious when he found out that the color pigments faded after only a short time. The silk weaver had to make his way out of Lyon. In the marketplace, he had heard that the city had a secret exit. Would he be able to find it in time?
