It is December 9, 1589, and Cathelyne van den Bulcke is standing trial in Lier. Accused of witchcraft, without a fair trial, her fate seems sealed. Despite witnesses pleading her innocence, bailiff Willem Brant sends her to the torture chamber. Fear and hysteria prevail over the truth.
But then chaos ensues. Right-thinking citizens seize their chance and Cathelyne manages to escape. She just has no idea where to go. There are rumors of a secret exit from the city. With the help of citizens and only a few hours to spare, she must find it before her pursuers strike.
