Colchester, 1738. For many years, Benjamin Lay has been fighting against the injustices of the world. Born with an unusually large head and a hunchback, life has never been easy for little Benjamin. Fortunately, he has a sharp mind and taught himself to read and write. As a sailor, he set out to explore the world. Unfortunately for him, he witnessed the horrors of the slave trade firsthand, seeing how it destroyed lives. This led him to rise up against this great injustice!
For over twenty years, Benjamin campaigned, unafraid to use a little violence and shock to make his point. Today, during a Quaker service, a wealthy community that earned much of their riches from the slave trade, Benjamin pierces a Bible with a sword, causing blood to spurt from it. Chaos erupts, and Lay realises he’s gone too far. Will he manage to leave the city unseen and unharmed?
